How
to apply for a ChamberCard Certificate
STAGE
1 - DECS REGISTRATION
1. Users of the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) Defence Electronic Commerce Service
(DECS) who require digital certificates should first register with DECS. For more information see
www.d2btrade.com
2. The DECS registration desk will confirm your account details, including your
DECS ID, which you will need in order to apply for a certificate.
STAGE
2 - CERTIFICATE APPLICATION
3. On receipt of your account details and DECS ID you will need to contact a
Certificate Manager at your local ChamberCard issuing Chamber in order to arrange an appointment. The appointment may be held either at the Chamber, or at your premises. Alternatively, your company may nominate a member of staff who, subject to appropriate vetting, will be trained by ChamberSign to carry out
applications.
Click here to view the tariffs applicable to each option.
Please
quote your DECS ID to your Certificate Manager in order to make an appointment.
4. You will need to present documentation proving your business' identity and your
personal identity.
The documents required are
listed here.
a. If you are the FIRST or ONLY user from your organisation applying for a certificate the
following is required for the appointment:-
Both the ChamberCard
Registration form AND the ChamberCard
Business Registration form need to be completed and presented at the
appointment.
The Business Registration Form will need to be completed and the original brought with you to the Chamber. A copy should also be presented at the registration appointment.
b. If you are NOT the first or only user
from your organisation applying for a certificate, the following is required for
the appointment:-
Please take care to read the list of documents required to prove your personal
and business identity thoroughly - certificates cannot be issued if this
documentation is incomplete.
5. On completion of a successful application, your Smartcard Reader and software will be dispatched within 10-14 days. On receipt, these should be installed on the pc that you intend to use for DECS access.
6. The integrity of any security solution is
based upon the rigour by which those issued with identities have been checked to
ensure they are who they claim to be and are authorised to act on behalf of the
Business. The less rigorous the processes and rules used to confirm the identity
of the Certificate Holder the less reliance can ultimately be given to the
relying party.
Your personal smartcard containing your certificate will be sent to you separate from the smartcard reader and software. The personal identification number (PIN) required to unlock the smartcard will be sent separately to you by email for security reasons.
